In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside.
Punch down the dough and roll out into a 12-inch circle.
Transfer dough to parchment paper. Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough.
Arrange mozzarella slices over sauce and drizzle with olive oil.
Bake pizza for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.
Remove from oven and top with fresh basil leaves before serving.
